Did not agree with government's offer
Subway workers mull 2-day strike
Subway workers yesterday said they would not endorse the government's proposal to solve the legal status issue. Today they will meet to analyze a possible strike.
Matías Cisneros, one of the delegates, showed his disapproval towards the offer made by the Labour Minister Carlos Tomada and said that workers will decide tomorrow "how to continue with this situation."
The government offered a ten day truce in order to solve the legal status of the subway workers. By this proposal, Tomada tried to avoid any strike that would affect million of passengers and generate social tension.
Subway workers will meet today to define if they will go on a two-day strike.
In February, subway employees voting in favour of creating a new union, separated from the UTA transport workers union. However, the current law only allows the representation of one union per economic branch.
Subway workers have gone on strike in different occasions in the past two months, affecting the already saturated traffic in the city of Buenos Aires.
