Board yet to decide on K's resignation
Moyano wants Kirchner to retake Peronist helm
Hugo Moyano, head of the CGT Labour Confederation, is planning a meeting of the board of the Peronist party to turn down the resignation of ex-president Néstor Kirchner as chairman of the party.
Kirchner stepped down from the party chairmanship the day after he lost in the mid-term elections to a "dissident" faction of the Peronism led by Deputy Francisco de Narváez. The former president was replaced by Buenos Aires Governor Daniel Scioli, formerly a vice-chairman.
Showing support for the former president, who is believed to set the guidelines of the current presidential administration, Moyano today said the board of the party should meet to turn down Kirchner's resignation and let him retake the helm of the ruling party.
"The request for a meeting is being signed by all the councilors who are members of trade unions," Moyano told an interview.
"At this moment in the country, our comrade Kirchner should lead the Justicialist party," he added.
