Interior Minister Florencio Randazzo spoke in Congress to explain the political reform bill during a hearing with the Constitutional Affairs Committee, along with the Budget and Housing Committee and the Judiciary Committee.

Randazzo said that the idea is to "organize" political parties, adding that "it is not right for Argentina to have 685 parties." There is never a "good time" to discuss the issue, referring to the initiative launched by the Executive Branch.

"There are no reasons for doing this other than to strengthen democracy and return prestige to politics," he said.

Another thing that the Interior Minister added was that they do not "have the truth revealed to them," and that they "believe that the truth is constructed."

"There is no doubt that politics has suffered a great deterioration, and that the trust has been broken between representatives and those being represented," he said.

Randazzo said that he was "open to suggestions for change," and said that "the Executive Branch will not establish time frames for the approval process because that is a task for Parliament."

On another note, the head of the Radicalist lawmaker bloc, Oscar Aguad, said that his party "is in need of a very important reform," but that "it cannot all be done in 20 days, because it requires debate, consensus and consultations with specialists."

The head of the Civic Coalition bloc, Adrián Pérez, asked for the "implementation of a single ballot" and agreed with the Radical party on the topic of time frame establishment being left to the Parliament.

Unión-PRO bloc president, Federico Pinedo, said that "the rules of the game must be very clear."

Finally, Silvia Ausburger from the Socialist party asked for a "thorough debate" that would last more that just "a few rounds."
