Cabinet Chief Aníbal Fernández asked Security Minister Guillermo Montenegro to name "the date and time" for a future meeting to discuss how the new Metropolitan and Federal Police forces would be coordinated.

"They have to deal with the Metropolitan Police, and we have no reason to talk to them. However, if they wanted to, let them name the date and time, and I will be waiting for them.

"Nevertheless, I never stopped talking with Montenegro," said Fernández.

In addition, he referred to Mauricio Macri's claims of a supposed boycott on the part of the government against the new Metropolitan police.

"He himself creates the boycott, because he avoids moving forward with the Metropolitan police every day. You can not stop certain things from coming to light," he said.

Fernández said that "when you start analyzing the Ciro James case and see that he was working for Boca, you know we are talking about someone who was well-known by Macri."

He also added that "it is forbidden by the Intelligence Law to tap phones. We are witnessing a bunch of liars who are trying to make us believe that this is just a game."

In an interview with a local radio, the Cabinet Chief underlined that "Macri is playing the fool and is looking in another direction, but what we are witnessing is a very troubling case."

According to a report of the Side intelligence office submitted to judge Oyarbide, James, a purported former agent of the federal police, tapped the telephones of Carlos Ávila in 2007 and the Sergio Burstein, the head of an organization grouping the families of victims of the AMIA terrorist attack.

The case has sparked strong reactions from lawmakers in the city of Buenos Aires, who reported that James worked as an official of the Education Ministry and made several phone calls to the former head of the Met Police, Jorge Palacios, who had been charged with obstructing the probe into the bombing.

Buenos Aires City Mayor Mauricio Macri denied that James had worked for Boca Juniors while he was President of the club and accused the national government and the Federal Police of organizing a plan to "boycott" the city's police.
