The opposition in the city of Buenos Aires City yesterday demanded the resignation of Security Minister Guillermo Moreno and Education Minister Mariano Narodowski over charges of having covered up an alleged spy who workerd for the Macri administration.

During a hearing at the City Assembly, opposition lawmakers said City Mayor Mauricio Macri's ministers could not keep be unaware of the Ciro James' intelligence worked at the Education Ministry, and highlighted that they should have known about the links between James and the former head of the Met Police Jorge "Fino" Palacios.

James remains under arrest for tapping the telephone of Sergio Burstein, a leader of a group that represents friends and relatives of the victims of the AMIA 1994 bombing.

During yesterday's hearing, both ministers stood by their claims and rejected accusations that James was working under their wings.

Montenegro assured that policeman Ciro James "was not part of the staff of the Buenos Aires City police, but he has worked for the Federal Police for ten years," and added that the espionage "investigation is targeted in order to create doubts about the city's police."

Montenegro admitted that James and Palacios knew each other because the ex policeman tried to enter to the Buenos Aires City police.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Mariano Narodowski told the Buenos Aires City Security and Justice Committee that when James began to work at his Ministry he presented a "quite a poor CV, but was acceptable."

During a yesterday's press conference, Buenos Aires City Mayor Mauricio Macri denied that James had worked for Boca Juniors while he was President of the club and accused the national government and the Federal Police of organizing a plan to "boycott" the city's police.
