Claudio Loser
Former IMF official notes 'great expectations' over debt-swap

The former head of the Western Hemisphere of the IMF, Claudio Loser, said there "are great expectations" in the United States over the government's plans to open a new debt swap with bondholders and said the project has been "very well received."

However, Loser criticized the government saying it "should have done it a lot earlier, because that would have spared many headaches to Argentina."

During a radion interview, the economist noted that wit the announcements, markets are "seeing the sovereign risk drop, which is very important and favourable."

He added that speculative "vulture" funds would not be able to set obstacles on the government's plans because "they are facing a very difficult situation. They are a minority now, so I believe the acceptance rate will be high."
