City Security Minister Guillermo Montenegro announced he is not involved in the Buenos Aires City espionage case and that he will not present his resignation, but said that he ordered administrative inquiries to clarify the situation.

During a press conference held at Buenos Aires City government's headquarters, Montenegro said that former policeman Ciro James "lied" about his link with the security force while he worked at the Education Ministry, after a federal court discovered there were dozens of phone calls from a suspected spy to the former head of the Buenos Aires metropolitan police, Jorge Palacios.

"There is no reason to present my resignation," added Montenegro, who also said that he has Mauricio Macri's support.

An investigation conducted by Federal Judge Norberto Oyarbide discovered that there were more than 150 phone calls between Palacios and policeman Ciro James, accused of spying on the relatives of the victims of the AMIA terrorist attack.

James is suspected of tapping the phone lines of the relatives of the AMIA to obstruct the investigation into the bombing in which 85 people died in 1994.
