Massive protests expected
Students flex their muscles to support Kraft workers

Students of the University of Buenos Aires have taken over the schools of Philosophy, Psychology and Veterinary to press US-company Kraft to rehire workers who had been laid off from the firm's plant in Pacheco, Greater Buenos Aires.

A massive protest us expected take place in front of the Labour Ministry, where directors of the company are slated to meet unionists as part of the ongoing negotiations.

The head of the students' assembly of Social Studies of UBA, Jair Zolotow confirmed that they would stage different protests in the city of Buenos Aires in a move to press the government to intervene in the conflict starting at 10am.

"We are demanding the rehiring of all the workers and the demilitarization of the factory," said Zolotow, reporting that employees have been receiving threats from officers of the Border Guard who are currently stationed inside the company to prevent any incidents.

Zolotow described the conflict between the directors of Kraft and trade unionists as "very important at a national level."
