Move to defuse labour dispute
CGT helm to meet Kraft union leaders today
National Deputy Héctor Recalde, who is the legal representative of the CGT Labour Confederation, today told the press that CGT leader Hugo Moyano would meet today with the delegates of workers at Kraft Foods in a move to resolve an ongoing labour dispute.
Recalde said "there will surely be a meeting today with Moyano and the leaders of the internal commission of the union" in which the CGT head would ask workers "to be flexible and rational."
Recalde defended the decision of the workers to go on strike after the company refused to suspend production as a result of a swine flu outbreak, and said the company should be "more flexible" and "rehire the laid off workers."
"It would be good to go back to the start. Everybody must be inside the plant and negotiating a solution."
