Wall Street ends higher on recovery bets
US stocks rose as investors bet the US Federal Reserve will stick to its accommodative policy to foster economic recovery, boosting growth-sensitive sectors such as financials, technology and industrials.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 51 points, or 0.5 percent, to end at 9,829.87. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 7 points, or 0.6 percent, to finish at 1,071.66. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 8.2 points, or 0.4 percent, to close at 2,146.30.
European shares rise, as rebounding commodity prices driven by a weaker dollar reversed a two-day losing run.
The FTSEurofirst 300 index of top European shares is up 1.1 percent at 1,010.04 points, regaining the 1,000 mark after falling 0.7 percent the previous session ahead of this week's US Federal Reserve meeting and G20 summit.
