Reutemann blasts Santa Fe governor for backing Kirchnerite bill
Senator Carlos Reutemann decried the Socialist governor of Santa Fe, Hermes Binner, for having contributed to "the lack of freedom and the absence of federalism," after Binner-loyalist deputies voted in favour of a government-sponsored bill to overhaul broadcasting rules.
"The actions of socialists were in line with the interests of the national government," said Reutemann, a Senator for Santa Fe province opposed to the "official" branch headed by the Kirchners. He added that "it's been a while since I started saying that Binner and the Socialism are in fact allies of the Kirchners."
Nine lawmakers of Binner's socialists were a key in the approval of the law draft in the Lower House. The bill was sent to the Upper House, where it would be passed by the pro-government majority.
"As it happened with the conflict with the farmers, now, in a discussion that is central to the democracy, Socialists again acted in line with the decisions of the government," Reutemann said.
"Behind the fake claims of progressiveness, lies the same will to control the media," he added. According to critics of the government's Broadcasting Law draft, the new bill, to replace the current regulations adopted by the last dictatorship, would allow the government to cancel the broadcasting licenses of dissident media and many networks in that are currently owned by private companies would be hand over to the hands of the Kirchners.
