Representatives of the five Buenos Aires City subway and pre-metro (tram) lines announced a general strike from 12 noon until 2 p.m. on Thursday and the release of turnstiles on Wednesday between 8 and 10 a.m. in demand of diverse claims, informed Néstor Segovia.

The delegate of Taller Constitución of the C line explained that activity workers claimed a "concrete" wage increase due to "the gap produced by inflation, the cessation of unfair sanctions to the detriment of employees, and the recognition of personnel fro the new guild" of the sector.

"This Wednesday all turnstiles will be released between 8 and 10 a.m., which means passengers will be able to travel for free and, on Thursday, a general strike will be held from 12 to 2 p.m.," said Segovia, who convened a press conference for 7 p.m. tonight.

The press conference will be at the national headquarters of the Association of State Workers (ATE), at 2500 Belgrano Avenue, to explain the reasons behind the protest.
