Sixth day of strike
Liaison Committe ratifies strike will end on Friday
The Liaison Committee agreed after several hours that the eight-day sales' boycott that began six days ago will come to an end on Friday 4 as it was scheduled since the begging of the protest, but they will continue next week with "struggle plan" which counts with rallies and demonstrations.
The Liaison Committee met at Mario Llambías' Argentine Rural Confederation (CRA) headquarters and after almost four hours debating, the rural leaders decided that the strike will end on Friday as it was previously planned to avoid damaging the grain and meat producers.
The head of the Small Farmers Federation, Eduardo Buzzi, had previously supported the idea of extending the eight-day sales' boycott, and even the final decision of the Committee did not count with Buzzi's total support.
Roadblocks and tractor protests took place yesterday, as farmers' associations held meetings in different parts of the country.
Farmers are currently mulling to stage protests in Resistencia, district in Chaco province and in La Plata in Buenos Aires province, as they are demanding that the government overhaul its farming policies and lower export duties.

Last year, farmers staged roadblocks and sales' boycotts for more than four months protesting a government's initiative to increase soybean export taxes.
