Defence Committee will meet again in 15 days
UNASUR summit fails to reach agreements on US bases
After several hours of debating and discussing the placement of US troops in Colombia, among other issues, UNASUR members approved the final report, which states that during the first weeks of September Defence Ministers will meet again to design trust and security measures to apply in the region.
The final report of UNASUR summit states that Defence Ministers and Foreign Ministers should create a security and guarantees strategy to the region during the Defence Committee meeting that will take part in September.
It also defended "the non interference in the countries' internal issues to guarantee regional union. UNASUR promotes dialogue, cooperation, trust, and transparency, and rejects drug trafficking and the existence of armed groups, that's why we've decided to build a peace and defence commitment."
