Félix Loñ said today that he is "in favour" of the Supreme Court verdict which decriminalizes the private consumption of marijuana, if it is done in "small amounts," and "privately."

The constitutionalist alluded to article 19 of the National Constitution which "protects people's private lives" when they "do not go against the moral norms and public order," adding that it would not be a bad thing for this verdict to be extended to other drugs as well.

According to Loñ, those who consume drugs should not be penalized, but should be "helped" as is necessary "in their treatment."

Cabinet Chief Aníbal Fernández said that the verdict is an end to "repressive politics."

However, Buenos Aires City Cabinet Chief Horacio Rodríguez Larreta said that legalizing personal use of marijuana is "living a different reality."
